Bournemouth Focus

Focus On Communities Using Sport is a multi-agency project involving Dorset Police, Borough of Bournemouth, Youth Services and Nacro. The scheme has a number of aims which include, promoting all our vibrant youth to achieve and generate healthier lifestyles by being healthy and safe, whilst enjoying and achieving in making a positive contribution to the economic well being of every child. Focus builds stronger community links between young people, Police, Youth Workers and more importantly the communities where they live, whilst tackling Anti-Social Behaviour in areas where services for younger people have been reduced.

Bournemouth Focus has been running for the last 18 months and started in June 2008. During this time the FOCUS group has grown and we still have the full support of NACRO, Bournemouth Borough Council and other volunteer groups. We now have the support of the Littledown Centre, which has now firmly become the home of FOCUS in Bournemouth.

Bournemouth FOCUS currently runs 6 tournaments a year and at the end of the season the FOCUS Cup will be awarded to the winners. We currently run two ages groups 12-14yrs and 15-17yrs. There is a wide mix of teams that enter these tournaments and compete against local groups.

FOCUS is always willing to attract more teams and if you would like to get involved then please contact the Bournemouth FOCUS co-ordinator.

We do ask that any news teams coming into the tournament follow the ethos of FOCUS, which is community involvement and "be challenged not challenging"

Focus is about creating stronger partnerships in communities. Focus has been running for over 5 years and still has successful projects currently running in Poole and Weymouth. You can find local contact details for those projects on our contacts page.
